Charity Shops & Pre-Loved

Your child may only get a term out of some of their school uniform, therefore it's worth looking in charity shops or on preloved.co.uk to see if you can snap up a nearly new bargain. Many areas have clothing banks specialising in school uniform to support low-income families.

If you don’t qualify to take advantage of the service then donate your childs' previous uniform to help others in need.

Compare Prices Online

Do your research and compare prices for uniform and school essentials online before hitting the shops.

Most of the big supermarkets enter a price war when it comes to offering value for money. A lot of them offer bundles or 3 for 2 offers which are definitely worth looking into.

We've put together a list of some of the most popular items from the top stores below

Prices are per item and some might come in packs.

Coupons & Money Off Vouchers

Search online, in newspapers & supermarket magazines for money off vouchers and coupons to save extra money off your child’s school essentials.

Sites such as Groupon, Living Social and even Amazon offer back to school deals so it's worth having a hunt around over the summer period.

Stock Up

Think ahead and stock up on items that will take you through the year. Many supermarkets will offer big discounts once the school term has started so get in quick and bulk buy on basics such as t-shirts, socks etc. As well as stocking up on uniforms, buy stationery in bulk too - pencils, rubbers, rulers etc can be found much cheaper in bulk than individual items.

Reuse & Customise

Pencil cases, school bags, lunchboxes and PE bags can be washed and spruced up with a bit of customisation to make them new again. Use stickers, badges, patches and fabric pens to jazz up last years items and get the kids involved so they can put their own stamp on it, and it can double up as a summer holiday activity.

Value for money is tough for everyone to determine, but we hope with these insights you can make the best decision on uniform.
