Year on Year Success
For the 4th year running, the charity Championing Social Care (CSC) has brought us the Great British Care Cycle Week – a 488km cyclothon spread into 5 sections across the UK, all in aid of celebrating our care homes and care services in our communities.
From the 11-15th June, the cycle relay will trickle down from Edinburgh then onto Manchester heading to the East Midlands, down into Newport and finishing in London on the 15th June for a route through from Reading.

Cyclists can choose which route to ride (or all if you’re brave enough!) completely for free, though if you’d like to raise money for your participation or donate out of your own pocket, you can do so via their GoFundMe page.
Each route will have a professional guide to lead the way, making sure everyone gets to have their pit-stops at welcoming Care Homes taking part.
Staff and residents will be there to cheer you on an provide refreshments, before heading back out onto the road and viewing some beautiful landscapes that the UK has to offer.
Raising Awareness for Social Care
CSC started the Cycle Week as a prelude to Care Home Open Week (15th-21st June) in order to raise more awareness of the work that Care workers do in the UK and the services they provide not only to the elderly but also the disabled and vulnerable of all ages.

We talked a little bit more about Care Home Open Week last year, and how it can not only help the residents socialise with people of all ages but also how it’s a great way to choose a care home for your loved ones.
If you’d like to take part in this great charity event and grab your free participant jersey and finisher’s medal, head to https://events.pieevents.co.uk/TheGreatBritishCareCycleRelay2026 to register.
